Last Thursday night, Jim Dunham became eligible for the Jerry Hat Tricks League. Yes, Jim turned 50. It was a memorable night. 50 helium-filled balloons were released to announce to the world north of Post 4 that Jim had managed to survive to reach that milestone.
Jim's performance in darts is probably a first in the history of all darting. He threw his age on his birthday. OK, lots of people have done that. Jim did it twice. Still, lots of people. Jim was 50. He shot his age by hitting a double bull - twice Well, not so many people but still a bunch.
Jim threw 2 double bulls that ended 2 different games on the day he turned 50. We're narrowing the field down quite a bit, but still nothing earth-shattering. There's got to be a kicker and here it comes.
Jim threw those darts backwards. Yes, backwards - as in flights first.
The day that Jim turned 50, he threw his age twice with a single dart that ended the game by hitting a double bull "flights-first". It is believed this is the first time this has happened in the entire history of darting.
Jim is also the darter who called a "double-loop" on the 8 (one dart in each loop of the number 8 displayed outside the scoring area) and hit it while throwing both darts at the same time.

Yes Merlin; a totally mind boggling accomplishment. I feel humbled just being in attendance that night. Head Lizzard's place in Dart immortality is written in stone...errr.. tungsten.
As word of this feat is discovered by the darting world, 10's of thousands will claim to have been there. I may be forced to construct a "I was there" certificate signed by H.L. himself to give to those in actual attendance. Could bring mucho $ on ebay from those who wern't there but wish to claim they were. ;)
Rumor has it that Jim Dunham's tears can cure cancer, but alas he's never cried. When Jim does his morning push ups; he doesn't raise himself up...he pushes the earth down.

Thanks for all the accolades Merlin. I really would like to thank everyone who could make it out for my surprise party and yes believe it or not I was surprised. The double bull deeds did occur and unfortunately both were the final two bulls in cricket matches. Woulda liked to hit the Red Frog Bull on the 50th. I missed by a wire in the 501 match. A little clarification on looping the "8". I did call the shot but did not throw both darts at once. I threw two darts one at a time backwards and yes I do have a witness. I would never dare call that shot again and expect to make it. It would ruin the magic.

This is not news to anyone who knows Jim or has suffered the backwards-bull fate. The Head Lizzard has been known to vanquish many an adversary with the Bakward-thrown dart. However he usually reserves the theatrics for the semi-annual "you-ain't-got-sh**" demonstration. The Birthday vibe clearly got hold of HL and his virility is left clearly in tact. When I get to be 50, I want to be just like HL.

I really dont know what impresses me more. The fact that a human can abuse his body and still make it to the ripe old age of 50. Or the trick dart show.......The only thing that I can think of in my own dart experience is throwing my age .......at that dreaded lizzard out. Congrats Head Lizzard on all your accomplishments ....I cant wait till your 52 double bull double 1....now that will make you a true legend
