There has been an ongoing question about the effect of cash payouts to Youth players and their amateur status. It was reported that the ADO does not consider cash payouts in eligibility criteria for playing in ADO Youth events.
Past that, the only consideration for amateur status appears to be college scholarships for competition events. Colleges allow non-amateur status in areas other than the area where the scholarship is offered.
There are no known college dart scholarships. If darts becomes a competitive college event and scholarships are offered, then amateur status is a factor.

Yea....Something us and other associations have tried to address in the past. I think Rich Pike pretty much clarified this issue.
on a side note...I hope the first dart scholarship should be awarded by Dartmouth!
